A mystic look at future fortunes through the mists of
the past was given to Worksop folk at the weekend when the town's Lion
Hotel held a Victorian psychic evening.
Max Raven held an evening of fortune-telling and mind tricks dating
back to the 18th century and further as he wowed the sceptical and seekers
of future knowledge.
Max demonstrated his psychic powers with tarot cards and mind reading
tests during an evening which included a three course meal.
Showing his technique of finding cards picked by his audience, guessing
the word they memorised from a book, or recreating drawings made by
diners proved easy for him as he attempted to demonstrate to both doubters
and believers that strange psychic powers do exist in the modern world
and are not just Victorian myths.
Predictions of financial success, changes of career, new hobbies, interests
or changes in working life were among the fortunes told during an entertaining
night.
The entertainer also told tales of psychic incidents such as the Pendle
Hill witch story of how witches were found out in days gone by or the
high profile Hollywood seances carried out by Harry Houdini's wife in
the decade after his death.
Private palm readings and a look at the tarot cards picked by individual
audience members gave them an insight into what could be in store for
them in the future.
